4GB fxt file restriction still valid

So far I assumed that MT4 can only handle .fxt files to a maximum of 4GB. When trying to find out via trial and error how many years that would represent, it seems that this is not an issue anymore. I was able to run backtests on files that were over 5GB. So is this 4GB thing not relevant anymore or do I mix this up with the .hst files?
Thanks!
Heiko

Hi Heiko,

From what we know so far, some users do still come across this limitation. It could be that certain EAs with high memory utilisation (etc) will still come across issues when using > 4GB FXT files. Just make sure that your EA fully completes the entire back-test period. A premature end to the back-test is often a symptom of coming across this limitation.

Hope this helps.
