multiple instances of mt4

Hello,

I'm using tickstory 1.8.3 and wondering if the following plan is workable. The idea is to have 2 instances of mt4 running simultaneously to speed up the testing process.

1) For mt4 instance 1, fill up the corresponding data and installation folder details in tickstory. Export the data to the data folder for mt4 instance 1.
2) launch instance 1 from tickstory
3) After it is launched, change the data and installation folder details in tickstory to those for mt4 instance 2. Export the data for mt4 instance 2.
4) launch instance 2 from tickstory

Possible?

Hi Huangwh88,

This seems like a feasible solution assuming you are running the two Tickstory instances simulataneously.

Regards.

hi tickstory,

Must there be 2 instances of tickstory running simultaneously? Suppose I only have 1 instance of tickstory running, and I complete the data export and launch the first mt4 instance before changing the data folder location in tickstory to that of the second mt4 instance. Still possible this way?

Hi Huangwh88,

It should be possible this way, however it's probably better to have two instances running just in case there are conflicts. Until a full solution is implemented, just be wary that behaviour could change in-between versions so the recommended solution at the moment is the one that works ;)

Thanks.

thanks for clarifying, tickstory.

One more thing, for the 'Single-User license (up to 2 machines)', if I run one instance of tickstory on my home PC, and 2 more instances on a VPS, will there be issues?

Hi Huangwh88,

Every installation is considered one instance. Therefore for 4 installations you will require 2 licenses.
